London

Well, the Journey to London really didn’t take as long as I thought it would do… just under 3 hours from Lancaster to London Euston.
We set off from Lancaster at 09:30, and arrived in just before 12:30 - we then made our way to the Hotel (the County Hotel - owned by ILH).
When we arrived at the hotel, we were greeted by a Porter, who directed us to the Reception.. then we met an Irish lady, who was the receptionist.
We were given our keys, and then we hauled our luggage into the lift. We were put in room 521, on the fifth floor.
The hotel is nice - it’s enough for what we need, but it seems stuck in a time warp - everything looks like it’s still the 50’s!
We unpacked our suitcases, and then decided to head out for a wander. I didn’t take my camera with me this time… We headed all over London - Buckingham Palace, The Mall, Houses of Parliament, Downing Street, Leicester Square, and Piccadilly Circus.
We arrived back at about 7pm, and settled down for the evening - both Wayne and I were shattered…
We woke up the next morning at about 10:30, and found a note had been pushed under our door… due to staff shortages, they were moving us to a lower floor…
So - we went out for a wander (after eating breakfast), and returned about lunch time. Then we moved out cases down to the third floor.
Whilst we were out, we took a lot of photos - we went to Kensington Palace, where I got some lovely photos of the grounds, and then went on to Prince Albert’s monument, and took a photo of the Royal Albert Hall. We then went onto Hyde Park, and took loads of photos.
We also went on to the Marble Arch, took some photos, then took a walk down oxford street, but it was too busy, so I didn’t fancy taking any photos this time.
Then we headed back to the hotel again.
On christmas eve, we headed up to the London Eye - and wandered round.. took a lot of photos again, and had a look at all the Dali statues. We would return later.
We took a walk to Westminster, and Big Ben - which doesn’t actually look *that* big… I wonder why it looks huge on the TV? Then we moved on to Westminster Abbey… this is where I saw the “Dean’s Road†sign - which I took a picture of :p
We then headed back to the London Eye - and went on it - there are a lot of photos, and as you can see, there is one of Wayne, looking rather anxious… He’s scared of heights! He was holding on for his life!
After all this, we headed back to the Hotel, and settled in for XMas… the tubes aren’t really running today!!! Damn!
Anyway, Happy Christmas everyone!
